Adrenaline Roll!

Due to popular demand I’m posting the basic idea for the Adrenaline Roll, which has been going over so well at conventions (I’ve been using this mechanic since 1995, so it’s been through years of playtesting.)
In a nutshell, during a tense moment (like in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK when Indy’s trying to outrun the giant boulder), the players must roll a certain number of successful Skill Tests in one minute (the skill used based on the circumstance, in this case Reflexes). The MC starts the timer running and the players roll as fast as possible to accrue the required number of successful rolls. Failure results in some form of calamitous impact on a PC.
That’s the basic idea. The first TSF supplement contains additional information. For example, how characters can help comrades who look like they’re going to fail to roll enough successes.
Come down to a con to see the Adrenaline Roll in action. It definitely gets the players’ adrenaline flowing (just like their PCs’ would be during these harrowing moments).
