TSF Update

I’ve been, unfortunately, out sick for the past week, but am on the mend, which is why it’s been quiet around here. :)   But as I finally start to return to health, I wanted to give everyone an overall update on developments post-GenCon.

  1. Our own Bill Heron, an expert in web site design, will be taking over the site and making it actually good, with moderated forums to boot.  I’m especially thankful because Bill has volunteered his time to do this.  Thanks, Bill!
  1. Tony Reyes has begun work on a Quick Start Set that includes pre-generated characters, enough rules (aka, guidelines), and a fabulous adventure written by our own James Carpio (in fact, it’s the beginning of the adventure written for I-CON’s Celebrity D&D game, which featured the great Frank Mentzer as a player). And you’ll be able to pick up the rest of the scenario from James at Chapter 13 Press. So thanks, Tony and James!
  1. We’re STILL waiting on the app to appear in the Apple iOS store (by the way, the name of the app is THE SECRET FIRE CODEX).  My only guess is that there’s so much text that they’re taking extra time reviewing everything to make sure there’s nothing that violates their (very long set of) rules.  My developer guesses we should have an approval (since nothing does violate said rules) by sometime this week.  We shall see.  Apparently, Android’s store is much less stringent and therefore faster, but the apps are more likely to have severe bugs and so on (this according to our developer, Quartus Technology, whom I highly recommend, by the way).
  1. We’re currently at work on the next product. As per usual, we’ve been using a temporary name (Supplement I: Demons & Druids), but the true name of the book will be FRAGMENT I: THE WAY OF TREE, SHADOW & FLAME.  We’ve been targeting December as a release date, but we’ve decided to make sure it’s in the best possible condition upon release, so we may push it back if we feel we need to — we’ll keep you updated).
  1. ePub is on its way. Apparently the number of charts, tables, and images in THE SECRET FIRE RPG book drastically increases the time it takes to convert to ePub format.  I’m using a new company called BookBaby.com that converts books into ePub format and then puts them into ePub stores including Kindle, Nook, iBooks, and so forth).  Their customer service has been outstanding, so I recommend them highly, as well.
  1. We have a few other smaller projects in the works, as well, but I won’t go into those just yet.

That’s all for now, but we should have regular updates again as long as I don’t sink back into the utterly horrible state of being I feel into over the past week or so.
